The South of Tenerife - Playa de las Américas

This municipality is located on the southwest of Tenerife. Recently, the coast known as Costa Adeje has undergone a major development of its hotel infrastructure, which is of an extremely high quality and where the tourist facilities have endowed the area with everything it needs to ensure that it retains its great beauty. Under its administration lie some of the island´s main tourist resorts, such as San Eugenio, Fañabé, Playa del Duque and part of the very popular Playa de Las Américas.

An average annual temperature of 23 degrees centigrade and full day- and night-time leisure facilities add to the appeal of this southern zone. The area has a surprising wealth of marine fauna, with one of the world´s most important colonies of cetaceans. Pilot whales, dolphins and other species of marine mammals can be seen off its shores, providing a natural spectacle that can be viewed from the numerous boats that offer excursions to observe them swimming in their natural habitat.

The port is home to the largest mural in the world, which features in the Book of Guiness Records measuring 4800 square metres, depicting the theme of the protection of whales with the slogan ?Los Cristianos ? Costa del Silencio invites you to get to know its peaceful corners, inlets, beautiful seabed of Punta de Rasca, a nature reserve for whales, a real treaure that scuba divers must experience and also Malpais de Rasca, which is a protected natural area. Las Galletas is a small fishing village that has maintained its customs and fishing traditions.
Venturing inland within the municipal of Arona, you will find a rural area of huge interest, Rural Arona, where there are a series of important and interesting footpaths and ideal scenery and landscape to take part in outdoor sports.
In Arona there is a superb and diverse choice of sports, with two golf courses, 8 football pitches (two of which are grass), an Olympic size swimming pool, an athletic track and multi sport zone.
